William Lowell "Red" Ramsey's Obituary
Funeral services for William Lowell “Red” Ramsey, 69, will be held at 10 A.M., Monday, March 22, 2010, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Glenn Morrison and Rev. Josh Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in Barrentine Cemetery in Longville, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. “Red” passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, near DeRidder. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M., Sunday, March 21, 2010, and from 9 A.M. until time of the service, Monday, March 22, 2010, all in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
“Red” was born in Sand Springs, OK, and moved to Westlake, LA, in 1949. In 1954 he moved to Longville and graduated from Longville High School in 1958. He married his wife of 46 years, Loretta Rives, in 1963 in Glen Rose, TX. He was retired from civil service at Ft. Polk, LA, after thirty-six years of service where he was in communications. He was currently employed with Northrop Grumman as an alarm technician. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and fishing.
“Red” is survived by his wife, Loretta Ramsey of DeRidder; two sons, William Lowell “Little Red” Ramsey and wife Ellen of Houston, TX, and Roger Alan Ramsey of Ft. Worth, TX; two brothers, Ronnie Ramsey and wife Almira of Ragley, LA, and Harold Ramsey and wife Frances of DeRidder; one sister, Glenda Joyce Jenkins and husband Lowell of Longville; four grandchildren, Holly R. Ramsey of New York City, NY, Zoe E. Ramsey of Lexington, VA, Chad M. Ramsey of Houston, and Katelyn M. Ramsey of Houston. He was preceded in death by pa rents, Guss Harvey and Minnie Viola Smith Ramsey, and brother, Harvey Ramsey.
