William C. "Bill" Churchman's Obituary
Funeral services for William C. “Bill” Churchman, 65, of Rosepine, LA, will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, 10:00 AM, Trinity Episcopal Church, DeRidder, LA with Rev. James Lueckenhoff officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Bill passed from this life on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2013, 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, La, with a Rosary said at 6 PM that evening.
Bill was born on January 27, 1947, to Clarence Churchman and Ann Volmer Churchman at Harrison, Arkansas. He graduated from Rosepine High School in 1965. He married Peggy on August 6, 1966. Bill attended Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA and graduated in 1969 from the University of Southwestern LA, Lafayette, LA. Bill started teaching Agriculture at Rosepine High School in August of 1969 and continued teaching for 35 years. He then drove a bus route for 3 additional years. He was the FFA Advisor at Rosepine High School. Bill was President and a member of the South Vernon Water Dept. and member of Trinity Episcopal Church and served on the vestry.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Peggy Deggs Churchman; 5 children, Shannon Churchman Breaux and husband Brian “Dude” of Rosepine, LA, Bryan Churchman and wife Kerri Dore of Rosepine, LA , Dr. Nichole Churchman Gibson and husband Ryan of LeCompte, LA, Erik Churchman and girlfriend Courtney Hall of Rosepine, LA and Lauren Churchman Courtman and husband Matthew of North Canton, OH; 7 grandchildren, Kaity and Luke Breaux of Rosepine, LA, Connor Churchman and Kristin Johnson, both of Rosepine, LA, Samantha Johnson of Moss Bluff, LA, Patrick and Toran Gibson, both of LeCompte, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ann Churchman; 2 sons, Mark Jeffrey Churchman and David Michael Churchman and 2 daughters, Tracy Danelle Churchman and Trudy Ann Churchman.
