Wallace Lane McRae's Obituary
Funeral services for Wallace Lane McRae, of Simpson will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 11 am at the Simpson Baptist Church, with Bro. Silas Cross, Bro. Jeremy Blocker and Bro. Gil Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the Welcome Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 30th from 5 pm until 9 pm at the church.
Wallace Lane McRae was born in Port Arthur, Texas on June 19, 1937, to F. C. and Nora Ethene Woodall McRae, the first of their five sons. He passed from this life on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at the age of 79 years, 5 months, and 8 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ron McRae and Alan McRae and his daughter, Alison McRae Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jimmy Smith McRae; daughter, Amy Dalme and husband, Alton; brother, Doug McRae and wife Georgia; brother, Larry McRae and wife Jodie; son-in-law, Jeff Morgan and wife, Theresa; grand-daughter, Jennifer Reyes and husband, Miguel; grandsons, Jacob Dalme, Zachary Morgan, Reese Morgan, and Heath Dalme; great-grandsons, Michael Reyes and Victor Reyes; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. McRae graduated from Leesville High School in 1955 and went on to play football for a short time at Louisiana Tech. He left college and served four years in the United States Navy. Later Mr. McRae was employed as a civilian in the Communications Center on Fort Polk. After retiring from Fort Polk, he owned businesses, worked as a construction foreman and heavy equipment operator. Mr. McRae served his community for years as a school board member and deacon in his church. He will be missed by many especially the breakfast crew at Bud’s and the members of the Pig Pen Social Club.
