Funeral services for Vandell Smith, Sr., 81, of Jena, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Johnson Temple C.O.G.I.C of Leesville with Supt. Maurice Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesvill Read Obituary
Dear Smith family, My heart and prayers are with y’all as you celebrate your father’s life. He touched so many of us during his lifehe taught my children, they remember him fondly and always talked about how nice he was. Kenda, I met you when you were in my Kindergarten class and met your father when he attended parent/teacher meetings. I know he was so proud of all of you. A Giant in the forest of life has fallen - Mr. Vandell Smith. To all - a Father, a Mentor, a Teacher, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Melodious Choir Member. Thank you for the years of wisdom and knowledge that you have imparted to so many (in the community, in the church, in the school, everywhere). To God be the Glory for a life well lived.
One of the greatest men I have had the pleasure of being apart of my upbringing he was like a father as well as my church member and my singing partner from time to time, he gave good advice and would keep me and Vanessa in line when we thought we where to grown to listen, Mr. Smith you will be truly missed but I promise I will watch over Nessa and continue to be her shoulder and listening ear when she’s ready, continue to rest in Paradise until we meet again..
I am sorry and extend my condolences. I remember Mr. Smith teaching me at Jena Jr. High.
He taught me science in the 6th grade at Jena Jr. High and his class still has great memories. He loved teaching and loved each student. There was never a boring lecture. I cherish those memories. You can rest in the peace his love will never leave. I’m very grateful and blessed from my experience with his great skill. God bless each of you.
