Tom McCaig's Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Tom McCaig will be held Friday, April 25, 2008 at 10:30 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, with Rev. Lindsey Burns and Rev. DOyle Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder.
A Native of Deridder, he retired as a LTC after twenty-one years of service in the U.S. Army. Tom served two tours in Vietnam and Korea. During his Miliitary service he earned the following medals: Legion of Meritw/V, Bronze Star Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/1 oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, and numerous medals and awards from the South Vietnamese government.
He was also a retired defense consultant with BDM at Ft. Polk, La. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in DeRidder and made his profession of Faith and was baptised in June 2002. Tom helped found and was a charter member of the "Ole Dragons", a new DeRidder High School Athletic Booster Club. He was a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in Geology and a graduate of the Command and General Staff College of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by: Wife of fifty-tow years - Carol McCaig of DeRidder; Two Sons - Thomas Patrick McCaig of Waco Texas, and Christopher Lee McCaig of Midlothian, Va.; Sister - Joy McCaig O'Neal of DeRidder; Seven Grandchildren - Caleb, Carol Ann, Stormy, Jason, Caitlin, Kristen, and Caroline
