Thurman proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Polk (Camp Polk) where he met his loving wife, Betty Jean Paddy Davis. He also honorably served in the Korean War. Thurman received the Korean service medal with 1 bronze service star and the United Nations service medal.
Thurman was a devout Christian who proudly served as a deacon for 56 years at Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was a retired school bus driver from VPSB.
Thurman is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Jean Paddy Davis, his 3 children, Rita Davis, Denise Davis Smith and husband Robert, and Daniel Davis and wife Teri. He is survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Thurman was a friend to all who met him. He rarely met a stranger and when he did, they weren’t a stranger for very long. He loved to fish as well as work puzzle books while sitting on his porch with his wife waving at all passerby’s. He was the most happy when all his family was gathered together with a good meal while reminiscing of fond memories. Thurman will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
