Lucille “Lou” Nichols, 93, passed peacefully on July 8, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Lou was born May 11, 1923 in DeRidder to P.W. West and Artemis Cole West. She was preceded in her death by her husband, Robert Read Obituary

I spent many a day and night at the Nichols home while growing up in DeRidder. Mrs Nichols was one of the nicest and most thoughtful people I ever knew. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Mrs. Lou I can see you now as you stroll through that beautiful garden with Mr. Bob. Many nights I put you to sleep with the song In the Garden Oh how you loved nature. During the six years I worked for you, you encouraged me, taught me and yes a couple of times told me what I needed but didn't want to hear. You taught me how to make a good corn bread dressing and how to cook a head of cabbage. I loved to hear you talk about your times growing up and especially looking at all the pictures of how DeRidder looked when you were a young girl. Rest in peace Mrs.Lou you'll be in my heart forever.
