Larry E. Monk's Obituary
Funeral services for Larry E. Monk, 60 of Leesville will be Saturday, July 26th at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church in Leesville; with Dr. Jerry Pennfield officiating. Burial will following in the Leesville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 PM until 9 PM, Friday, July 25th in the funeral home then Saturday July 26th from 8:30 AM until 12 noon in the funeral home then 1:00 PM until service time in the church.
Larry passed away at his residence in Leesville Thursday, July 24th.
Larry was born in Leesville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leesville serving as a Deacon and as the TV Sunday School Teacher for the past 25 years. He retired from the Vernon Parish School Board as an Assistant Superintendent. Larry received his Doctorate of Education from the Northwestern State University. He was currently the Executive Director for Northwestern State University at Fort Polk.
Larry proudly served his country in the US Navy He loved to sing, play numerous musical instruments along with writing poetry.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years Charlotte Pollard Monk of Leesville: Sons, Jeffrey C. Monk of Houston, TX and Tim Monk of Austin, TX; Brother, Jim Monk of Dallas, TX; Sister, Anita Calvert of Marble Falls, TX.
Memorial donations can be made to the TV Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and/or the Purple Shield Scholarship and Northwestern State University at Fort Polk.
