James Lee Pelt's Obituary
James Lee Pelt passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1946, in Leesville.
James was a lifelong resident of DeRidder. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a dedicated, hardworking man with a generous heart who was always willing to help others. Above all, James took great pride in caring for his close-knit family, which brought him his greatest joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Isbell Pelt; sons, James David Pelt (Annie) and Gregory Scott Pelt; grandchildren, David, Kaden, Dawson, Peighton, Bryce, Preslie and Eden Pelt; four great grandchildren; and siblings, Shelman Pelt, Cecil Pelt, DeWayne Smith, Joanne Smith, and Danny Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Pelt and the former Hazel Perkins; four brothers; and grandson, Logan Pelt.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder on Thursday, February 5, 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, February 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be immediately following at Spring Creek Cemetery. Pastor Dalton Isbell will be officiating at the services.
