As a child being James only sister, and the age difference I never had the honor of spending quality time with him. I just knew the times I was around growing up I always felt safe with him. The one weekend I’ll cherish forever was 2019 watching him work on his truck. He loved that truck. Getting up early sitting having coffee ☕️ and reminiscing about old times. He could always tell the best stories, things I’ve leaned about our family history. That’s one of the joys of being the oldest sibling.I remember him taking me to the pond on Sugar Town Hwy one night to look for bullfrogs. Bat in one hand with a light on his forehead. He never missed one he saw. I looked up to him. He was a hero, and I’m not sure he ever knew that. He always had a special place in my heart. Very giving and loving soul. James I love you my brother, my hero. How I’ll miss you, your laughter, your smile, your stories, and your sense of humor. Rest with Jesus James one day I’ll see you again. I love you. Among the many meaningful memories I have from childhood, one of the most unforgettable moments I shared with Uncle James took place at Grandpa Doc’s graveside memorial. As Uncle Danny preached, he spoke about those who had given their lives to Christ, including Grandpa Doc. At that time, James had recently surrendered his life to Christ as well. When asked, he answered boldly and without hesitation. His voice was strong and clear, and that moment has stayed with me ever since.
It reminds me of Jesus’ words in Matthew 10:32: “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.”
Uncle James, I love and respect you, sir. And I know I will see you again.
I loved spending time with Uncle James as a child. We would sit on the porch swings and listen to Hank Williams Sr. and Junior. Uncle James was an authentic man that was filled with wisdom. When he spoke, I listened. I will forever be grateful for the time I had him as part of my story. Now I look forward to seeing him again someday soon. I love you Uncle James.
