Iva R Green's Obituary
Iva R. Green, 82, entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Iva was born to Ivy and Virgie Reed on July 23, 1938, in Oakdale, Louisiana.
Visitation will begin Monday, March 8, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at First Baptist Church of DeRidder, 2030 Hwy 171, DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church of DeRidder, with Rev. George Lee Glass officiating. Interment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Iva attended Louisiana College and received a bachelor degree in education from McNeese State University. She was an active member of Beta Sigma. Iva retired from Vernon Parish School Board where she taught 2nd grade and 7th grade in Pickering, Louisiana for 37 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder and she also loved attending Grace Church. Iva was very active in her community and made it her passion to show “love” to everyone she knew. Iva was also selected by the Women’s league of DeRidder as the 2008 Mardi Gras Queen, where she received her title and special name of “Queen Iva”
Left to cherish her memories are her companion and caregiver, Kenny Higgs of DeRidder, LA; four children, Lisa Sullivan of Lake Lure, NC, Todd Green of Kinder, LA, Kirk Green and wife Kim of Natchitoches, LA, Lana Pearson and husband Christopher of Lake Arthur, LA; father of her children and constant faithful supporter, Wilbur “Bill” Green; six grandchildren, Reed Green, Peyton Green, Grant Armand, Jake Armand, Blake Pearson, Lance Pearson; and one great grandson, Paxton Green
Preceded in death by her parents, Ivy and Virgie Reed.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Grant Armand, Jake Armand, Reed Green, Fred Skeeto, Bob Benson, Chris Bandy, Blake Pearson and Lance Pearson.
