Iva Lee Airhart Smart's Obituary
Funeral services for Iva Lee Airhart Smart,89, of Leesville will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Anacoco with Bro. D.R. Davis,Bro. Buddy Airhart and Bro. Kenneth Baggs officiating. The burial will follow in the Old Anacoco Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday, August 13th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Smart passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at her residence in Leesville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anacoco. Mrs. Smart worked for the Louisiana State School as a Cottage Parent from the time it opened until her retirement in 1976. She was lovingly known as the “Hawthorne Flash”; loved people and was the life of the party.
She was preceded in death by her husband Isaac L. Smart “Little Ike”; parents John Sullivan & Alice Lee Airhart; brother Billy Airhart & sister-in-law Carol Jean Airhart and her sisters Othal Walters, Ruth Curtis & Virginia Hale.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Lee Smart of Leesville, LA; brother C.R. “Ray” Airhart (wife, Emogene) of Hornbeck, LA; sister Juanita Browning of Hornbeck, LA and a host of nieces & nephews.
