Gail Yvette Word, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away on January 26, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on November 26, 1963, in England to Doris Mary Tuson and John Frederick Tuson.
Gail's life was a tapestry woven with creativity and joy that she shared generously with those around her.
Gail’s creative talents were boundless. She had a passion for cooking, a true testament to her nurturing nature. Gardening was another outlet for her creativity where she cultivated not just plants but also cherished memories. In addition to these pursuits, Gail enjoyed sewing and crocheting beautiful pieces that reflected both skill and love.
Her zest for life was infectious; whether it was through laughter shared during family gatherings or quiet moments spent tending to flowers in the garden —every moment encapsulated who she truly was: joyful and active.
Preceded in death by her mother Doris Mary Tuson and father John Frederick Tuson .
A devoted family woman at heart, Gail found immense happiness in the company of her children:
She is survived by her sons, Bobby Word Jr. of Monroe and Austin Word of Leesville; daughter, Bianca Word of Pineville: Her love extended beyond mere words—she nurtured their dreams and celebrated their achievements with unwavering support. The light in her eyes shone even brighter when she spent time with her grandson Marcus Washington II; he brought an extra sparkle to her already vibrant spirit. Gail is also survived by two brothers, Gary Tuson (and wife Angela) from England; Ian Tuson from England; as well as a sister, Gina Fullbrook residing in Thailand. Each sibling carries forward fond memories of their time together.
Gail leaves behind not only family but countless friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
In honor of this remarkable woman’s legacy—a celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 8th at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville at 2:00 P.M., visitation starting at 1:00 P.M.. Friends are invited to gather together as they remember the laughter-filled moments they shared with Gail Yvette Word—a shining star who will forever remain etched within our hearts.
