Delbert Hollis' Obituary
Funeral services for Delbert L. Hollis, 77, of DeRidder will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of DeRidder, with Rev. Scott Hollis, Rev Lindsey Burns and Rev. Kari Ifland officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaurgard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2017, from 5 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Delbert the son of Rev. Ernest and Ruby Scott Hollis was born on February 29, 1940 in Sweetwater, TX. He passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, in DeRidder, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and baby brother Hollis.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Hollis of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Debra James and her husband Roger Jr of Saraland, AL; son, Rev. Scott Hollis and his wife Angela; brother, Kenneth Hollis and his wife Ann of Ft Worth, TX; sister, Shirley Crawford and her husband Warren of Sweetwater, TX. Grandchildren; John Hollis, Kaitlyn Hollis, Jordan Hollis, Kelli James, Dakota Hollis, Jacob Hollis, Noah Hollis, Haley Hollis and Joshua Hollis, and his beloved pets.
Delbert was a very loving, caring husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He loved being around people and his pets. He was a hard worker and he instilled those values with others,and he loved to travel. He had many friends and once you were a friend of his it was a lifetime friendship. He loved to serve people. He was a volunteer at God’s Food Box and The Humane Society.
He started playing music during his childhood and thru his years he instilled a love for music with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the FBC Orchestra, Beauregard Courtesy Band (where he was an original member) and a Harmonica Band. He was an avid supporter of the music arts in the community. He will truly be missed.
