Clayton Lamar Cole, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 85, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Born on April 12, 1940, in Glenmora, Louisiana, Clayton was a man of great warmth and kindness, whose life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. He was a Christian man with strong values.
He was the cherished son of Landry Salem Cole and Nellie Thelma Strother, who preceded him in death, leaving behind a legacy of love that shaped the man he became. Clayton was a devoted family man, married to the love of his life, Nona, for an incredible 67 years. Their union was a beacon of strength and fidelity, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Clayton, a proud U.S. Army veteran, served his country with honor and distinction. His service reflected his dependability and strong values. He met every challenge with patience and grace, endearing him to others.
A true family man, Clayton is survived by his loving wife, Nona Pearl Wisby Cole, son, Craig Cole, and wife, Tammy, of Panama City Beach, Florida, and his devoted daughters: Cassandra Thompson and husband, Freddie, of Pitkin, Louisiana; Caren Eaton and husband, Richard, of Rosharon, Texas; and Carisa Cole of Houston, Texas. He took immense pride in his grandchildren — Ryan Thompson, Zachary Cole, Ashley Williams, Lauren Myers, and Lindsey Myers —who filled his heart with joy. His great-grandchildren, Griffin Williams and Lila Myers, were the apples of his eye, bringing boundless happiness into his life.
Clayton was passionate about geo-caching and classic television, especially "Gun Smoke." He avidly supported LSU football and cheered for the Houston Astros, often sharing these interests with those he cherished.
Known for his patient and loving demeanor, Clayton was a dependable cornerstone for many. His warm presence and genuine nature will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Clayton will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, Louisiana, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service for Clayton will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 am at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, Louisiana. Following the service, interment will be at Wisby Cemetery in Cravens, Louisiana, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to attend both the service and the burial to celebrate Clayton's life and legacy.
