Alice Corrine Wise Craft's Obituary
Alice (Wise) Craft passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the age of 95. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, relatives and many friends. Alice was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish, Louisiana and member of Cold Springs Baptist Church. Her love of God, her family and large number of relatives was well known. Everyone seemed to know “Mrs. Alice” and most could tell a story of a time when she helped someone in her community or did an unselfish act. She was also well known for her strong constitution and the pleasure she found in “politicking” for her husband and son, walking in the woods, hunting, fishing, quilting, baking, and traveling. She was famous for her pear cake and would be happy to hear that her granddaughter Stephanie made multiple loaves this Christmas to give to her friends and neighbors. She was a volunteer for Helping Hands Storefront Ministries for 30 years.
Alice was the youngest of 10 children born to James Leonard Wise and Eliza Stephens Wise, and the last surviving child. She graduated from Simpson High School which at the time only went through the 11th grade. She always joked she must be smarter than the rest of us who had to go 12 years! In 1953 she married Sheriff John O. Craft, who preceded her in death in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl (Will) Henderson, and son Sam (Leah) Craft. Grandchildren Stephanie (Allen) Westmoreland, Blake Craft, Kristy Craft, Kelsey (Trinity) Harmon, Justin Goins, and Clint (Allie) Goins. Great-grandchildren Levi and Sam Westmoreland, Ace and Mia Meyers, Dani Harmon, Abbilee and McKenleigh Dowden. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family wish to thank our wonderful caretakers during Mom’s last few years –Virginia Welch, Jeanette Martin, Ellen Krepper , Anita Perry, Vickie Rachal, and Rena Lewis Their care and devotion will not be forgotten.
A graveside service for the immediate family will be held on December 28, 2020 at Cold Springs Church Cemetery with Bro. Rickey Robertson presiding.
