Yong S. Magee, 54, died January 26, 2013 in her home with her family by her side in Leesville, LA.
A memorial service for close friends and family is being held Thursday, 10:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville.
Yong, better known as Sue, was born January 31, 1958, in Chaeju-City, South Korea to parents Tu and Cha Pak.
Sue met her husband, James Magee, in South Korea and was married November 1977. Sue traveled all over the globe with her husband as devoted Army wife and loving mother. Her last deployment was to Fort Polk, LA where both Sue and Jim decided to call home.
While here in the Vernon Parish area, Sue devoted her off time to Fort Polk community as a volunteer, primarily at the Fort Polk thrift shop where she eventually became the full time manager for many years until her illness forced her to retire. Another position she held was as a teacher’s assistant at Pickering Elementary as an English as second language instructor, helping children that had limited English skills.
Her interests included family, exercise and reading. Prior to her illness, Sue was a devoted runner and exercise addict who loved being physically fit.
Sue was awarded a diploma from Leesville High School and attended local colleges. At the time of her death, Sue was a devoted homemaker and wife.
Sue is survived by her husband, James Magee; children, James and John Magee from Austin, TX and Susan Magee from Leesville, LA and four beautiful grandchildren. She also has a mother, brother and four sisters in South Korea.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tu Kyong Pak.
Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society in her name.
