Willie Ervin Wilson, Sr., was one of ten children born to Emmit, Sr. and Florence Wilson, on September 29, 1934 in New Llano Village, Louisiana. With his passing, an era and generation of this family has ended. He peacefully answered the Lord’s call on Saturday, October 5, 2013.
Willie grew up in a Christian home and was taught to love the Lord at an early age. He and his siblings were also taught that nothing should come between them and nothing ever did. Over the years, he and his wonderful wife of 50 years, Vivian, provided much love, spiritual guidance and good food to their immediate family and to the extended family. They have an open door policy when it comes to the family and friends and together they created a sweet, sweet welcoming spirit in their home. Willie always had a job – since he was 15 years old working as a bartender at Jimmy & George’s night club. For many years he worked at Palmer Motor Company as their foreman. Later in life, he and brother, Lonnie, successfully operated the “Kar Salon”, a car detailing business. This business was located on 4th Street until it burned down and then relocated where Auto Zone is presently located. It was later located across from the Pentecostal Church until the passing of his brother. He later worked at the Car Wash in New Llano with Melvin Haymon. He retired from the car detailing business and began working at the Vernon Parish School Board Head Start. While employed at the Head Start, he made many lasting friendships especially with little buddy Quen, who called him “Paw-Paw”.
He will be sorely missed by his very loving and devoted wife Vivian Wilson; loving daughter Stephanie Wilson, caring sons Willie Wilson, Jr. (Geri) and Emerick Wilson (Veronica), 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
