William Gerald Slaydon's Obituary
Funeral service for William Gerald Slaydon, 87, of Longville, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Longville with Rev. Stuart Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Ragley, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Longville, and will continue on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 9 A.M. until time of the service at the church.
Mr. Slaydon was born on February 17, 1927, to William Jessie Slaydon and Dolly Vogie Bailey Slaydon in DeRidder, LA. He lived in Westlake, LA, for most of his life before retiring and moving to Longville. He was an Operator at City Service Oil Refinery from which he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Longville. Mr. Slaydon was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII in the Asian Theater. He passed from this life on Monday, March 17, 2014, in Sulphur, LA.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Iris Ann Slaydon of Longville; one son, William Michael Slaydon and wife Mary of Westlake, LA; one daughter, Janet Slaydon Owens and Husband Dr. Michael of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Ross Slaydon of Longville; one sister Peggy Brown of Longville; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
