William C. “Bill” Heaton
Funeral services for William C. “Bill” Heaton, , 83, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2016, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Frank Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 6 PM until 9 PM and on Friday, February 19, 2016, from 9 AM noon until time of service at the funeral home.
“Bill”, the son of William A. and Edna P. Hutton Heaton, was born on February 2, 1933, in Colony, KS. He passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, in DeRidder Retirement & Rehab Center.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and retired from the National Guard. He also retired from the U. SW. Civil Service at Ft. Polk, LA, where he was a mechanic. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, was a jack of all trades and would help anyone in need. “Bill” was also a member of American Legion Post 27 in DeRidder.
He was preceded in death by: wife, Helen Heaton, grandson, Christopher Heaton, his parents and three brothers.
He is survived by two sons, William C. Heaton, Jr. and wife Maria and Jerry A. Heaton and wife Linda, all of DeRidder; ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; one brother, Richard “Dick” Heaton of Kansas; two sisters, Gertrude P. Cambel of Butler, MO, and Mary Belangy of Topeka, KS
