Walter Harold Stinson, 83, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, January 8, 2021 in DeRidder, LA. Walter, the son of Elmer Stinson and Charlotte Wiley Stinson Zuckweiler was born on February 14, 1937 in New London, Connecticut.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, January 12, 2021, from 11 AM until Funeral Service begins at 1:00 PM, at The Church of Christ of DeRidder on Bilbo Street with Pastor Jay Alexander officiating the service. Interment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder, LA with military honors. Funeral arrangements under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Walter answered the call to his country and served with honor in the United States Air Force. He had several hobbies throughout his life especially amateur HAM radio, fishing, electronics, recording music on cd’s for family. He worked many years at the local refinery, first Hercules then later called Himont. After many years of working, he retired from the refinery industry and have been enjoying his retirement years in DeRidder.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Douglas Stinson of Lake Charles, LA, Donna Reed and husband Darrin of Moss Bluff, LA, Dawn Thibodeaux of Pearland, TX, Drew Stinson of Shreveport, LA and Darin Stinson of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Kristi Vezinat, Christopher Summers, Amber Crater, Austin, Cameron and Zachary Thibodeaux, Aimee Jones, Charles Jones, Jr., Holly Ardoin, Patrick Stinson, Michael Stinson and Ashley Stinson; 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, Elmer Stinson; mother, Charlotte Wiley Stinson Zuckweiler; daughter, Dorothy Jones; former wife, Mary Whitman Stinson.
