Wallace H. Wilson's Obituary
Wallace Wilson
January 30, 1957 – October 16, 2025
Wallace Wilson was born on January 30, 1957, to Melvin and Ada Marie Wilson. He grew up in Savage Forks alongside his younger brother, Alton, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors.
As a young man, Wallace found joy in riding horses and playing baseball, serving as a successful first baseman for the Pickering Red Devils. After graduating from high school, he married the love of his life, Vickie, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
While pursuing his undergraduate degree at McNeese State University, Wallace worked as a Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Deputy, demonstrating his early commitment to service. His career in education began soon after, and he quickly became known for his passion, leadership, and dedication to students.
Wallace coached high school baseball, track and field, and girls’ basketball at Evans High School, leading the teams to some of their first playoff appearances and postseason victories.
He later returned to the Pickering community continuing his educational career at Pickering Elementary School, where he served as Principal for 23 of his 33 years in the Vernon Parish School System.
Under his leadership, Pickering Elementary grew to an enrollment of 1,400 students, becoming the largest school in the parish during Operation Desert Storm. Wallace’s caring yet firm approach to leadership brought together both local and itinerant staff and students, resulting in some of the highest academic performance scores in the state and parish. While at Pickering, Wallace returned to coaching leading numerous Little League baseball teams to success winning multiple parish titles.
In addition to his work in education, Wallace was a successful real estate investor, providing affordable housing for soldiers and their families stationed at Fort Polk.
A lifelong member of Leesville Family Worship Center, he attended the church for over 60 years while serving in numerous roles including Worship Leader, Deacon, Elder, and member of both the Church Board of Directors and the FTCA School Board. He used his voice to honor the Lord as a vocalist for the “True Peace Singers”. He also led the Senior Saints Life Group, offering wisdom and spiritual guidance to generations of church members. His leadership helped the church expand its membership, facilities, and missions outreach.
An avid deer hunter, Wallace enjoyed time spent outdoors and harvested numerous trophy bucks within the Wilson Pasture Hunting Club’s lease and fishing for white perch on Toledo Bend near his camp with his friends.
Wallace was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Melvin and Ada Marie Wilson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie; his brother, Alton (Renee’); his son, Rodney (Genevieve); and his four cherished grandchildren: William, Charles, Scott, and Kayla.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever remember his legacy of faith, service, and leadership.
Wallace Wilson’s life was marked by love—love for his family, his students, his community, and his Savior. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
