Virginia Ruth Bennett's Obituary
Funeral services for Virginia Ruth Bennett, 82, of Simpson, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the Simpson Baptist Church with Revs. Jeremy Blocker and Gil Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery in Simpson under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, from 5:00 – 10:00 P.M. at the church, and again Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
Mrs. Bennett, the daughter of Johnny Williams and Winnie Sterling Williams, was born August 28, 1931, in Slagle, Louisiana and passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Byrd Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Bennett served as the Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee at Simpson Baptist Church for 40 years. She loved cooking and serving, whether as a ministry to her church or to her own family. She also enjoyed gardening alongside her husband, Mr. AC Bennett. She was devoted to her family and loved to teach and set an example for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband of 65 years, Mr. AC Bennett, four sons; Larry Bennett of Groves, Texas, John Bennett and wife Donia of Elmer, Louisiana, Shawn Bennett & wife Dusty of DeRidder, Louisiana, Shannon Bennett & wife Joline of DeRidder, Louisiana; one daughter, Debi Bennett of Austin, Texas, and a sister, Billie Ray Clark of Simpson, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Kay Bennett.
