Vincentia Pauline Brown's Obituary
Morris Edward Brown entered peacefully into rest on Friday, May 27, 2022, at the age of 82 years in Leesville, LA. Morris was born on Wednesday, December 27, 1939, in Statesboro, Georgia to Carl Edward and Vera Sparks Brown.
Morris served our country with honor for 15 years in the Army Medical Corps where he received an honorable discharge. It was during this time in the army that he met the love of his life Vincentia Pauline Levings. After the military, he worked in radiology for many years at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital. During his off time, he enjoyed bird watching, reading, and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Michelle Self and husband Leslie of DeRidder, Debbie Devall of Nampa, Idaho, and Adria Holland of Rosepine; seven grandchildren, Heather Welch and husband Tommy, Rachel Haskins and husband J.T., Chelsea Self, Wyatt Self, Alyssa Martsch and husband Kody, Derrick Devall, and Alayna Holland; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife Vincentia Brown; parents, Carl and Vera Brown; brother, Olan Brown.
Vincentia Pauline Brown entered peacefully into rest on Thursday August 20, 2020 at the age of 77 in her home with her family by her side. Vincentia was born on Sunday, October 4, 1942, in Elbowoods, North Dakota to Verna Bell.
Vincentia was proud of her Native American heritage and with a warriors spirit she joined the Army where she worked as a clerk. It was during this time she fell in love with another soldier named Morris Edward Brown and they spent their lives together growing a family. She loved reading, and traveling. She also loved her family dearly and she will be missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Morris Brown; three daughters, Michelle Self, Debbie Devall, and Adria Holland; brother, Virgil Tiokasin; sister, Margo Bean; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Martin Levings and Vincentia Makepeace; biological mother Verna Bell and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Morris and Vincentia Brown will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 10:00 AM in the chapel. Interment will follow at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA with military honors. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
