Victor M. Martin's Obituary
Funeral services for Victor M. Martin, 90, of Sugartown, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 am. Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, with the Rev. Mary Ann Carlson and Rev. Lynn Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Talbert Cemetery in Sugartown, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 pm, Friday, August 27, 2010 and Saturday, August 28th
from 9:00 am until time of service in the funeral home.
Victor, the son of Joseph and Pearl Smith Martin was born on December 6, 1919. He passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was born in Chatham, LA and had been a resident of Sugartown for 68 years. He was a veteran of World War II, European Theater of Operation and received the Purple Heart, and a member of American Legion Post 27.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Lena Talbert Martin of Sugartown; son, Victor B. (wife, Cherry) Martin of DeRidder; daughters, Sharon (husband, Ron) Carroll of Merryville, LA & Sherry (husband, Tom Haftmann of Lake Charles; brother-in-laws, Dempsy Hunt of Nederland, TX & J.W. Talbert of Kenner; sister, JoAnn Price of Ruston; sister-in-laws, Peggy Davis of Sulphur, Macie Martin of Jonesboro & Sarah Talbert of Sugartown; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
