Vergie Lee Martin LaCaze's Obituary
Funeral services Vergie Lee Martin LaCaze, 90, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Oak Forest Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Morris Goins, Rev. Millard Monk & Rev. Chad Longoria officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Mora, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 6 pm – until time of service Friday, April 22, 2011, at the church.
Vergie, the daughter of Abram Gene and Tempie Ann Snell Martin was born on December 29, 1920, in Hutton, Louisiana. She passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at her residence in Leesville. She was a native of Hutton but lived in Leesville almost all her life. She was a graduate of Simpson High School. She worked as a nurse’s assistant for Broyles Clinic and Leesville General. She was also a cook at Vernon Elementary till her retirement. She was a long time member of Oak Forest Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU, choir and church treasurer.
She was preceded in death by 1st husband, Willie R. Martin, 2nd husband, J.D. LaCaze, son, Doyal Martin, daughter, Joy Faye Baker, brothers, and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Roger Martin & wife Carmen of Leesville; daughters, Nelda Woods & husband, Bill of Angleton, TX, Pat Golden & husband, Dale of Alvin, TX, Karen Nash & husband, Gary of Leesville & Jeanine Martin of Leesville; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
