Valentine P. Harper's Obituary
Services for Valentine P. Harper, 93 of DeRidder will be begin at 2 PM, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Knuckles and Rev. Roger Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 6, 7 and 8, 2018 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, 2110 Hwy 171, DeRidder and on Saturday from 12 Noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Harper was born in DeRidder on February 14, 1925 to Luke B. Prather and Suzane M. Ellesaessor Prather. She entered into rest on June 3, 2018 at her residence in DeRidder. At a young age she worked at the DeRidder Air Base and was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in which she loved dearly and was involved in many activities.
Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Grover J. Harper, Son Darrell J. Harper and grandson, Jesse Lionel Harper. Left to cherish her memories are a son, Grover W. Harper and daughter, Charlene K. Jones both of DeRidder, three grandchildren, Laura L. Davis, Angie K. Egbert and Kenneth Wayne Harper, seven great grandchildren, Emily A. Goins, Ashlyn J. Jarrell, Sarah E. Goins, Brittney L. Egbert, Tyler Wayne Harper, Logan T. Davis and Jaida B. Davis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Knippers, Josh Egbert, Cade Jarrell, Tyler Harper, Logan Davis and Anthony Crain.
The family would like to give thanks to the Brighton Bridge Hospice with a special thanks to Dr. Hagen and nurses Diane Burby and Dana Dudley.
