US Army's Obituary
Graveside services for US Army (Ret) CW4 Leo R. Boyd, 84, of Anacoco will be held Monday, July 17, 2017, at 10 AM at Central LA Veterans Cemetery at Fort Polk, with Rev. Kevin Boles officiating with full Military Honors being given. Friends may visit Sunday, July 16th from 5pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Leo, the son of Ralph G. and Ellen Hodges Boyd, was born on May 17, 1933, in Galloway, MO he passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his residence in Anacoco. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Leo Ralph Boyd, II, granddaughter, Alicia Shepard, and his sister, Vera Bloomer
Leo served in the United States Army having one tour of duty in the Korean War and two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. Leo retired after 23 plus years of service to his country.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and he was a man of many trades and was always willing to help other people. He was a member of the Green Valley Community Church in Douglas County, MO. Most importantly though he truly loved his family and simply adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leo is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Monika Boyd, his children Lynn Boyd, Donna (husband, Andy) Shepard, Nancy Adams, and Linda (husband, Eric) Edwards; his grandchildren Blake (wife, Laura) Edwards, Emily Pennington, Shelby (husband, Brandon) Gabourel, Chelsea Walker, Brittany Leon-Guerrero, Jessica Boyd Williston, Christina ( husband, Robert) Wilkinson, Leo Ralph Boyd III and Rachel Boyd; great grandchildren, Paige Boyd, Mollie Wilkinson, Maggie Wilkinson, Aiden Gabourel, Willow Gabourel and Annora Edwards, brothers, Linnie (wife June) Boyd and Leon (wife, Polly) Boyd and Sister, Velma (husband, Bill) Coday; numerous nephews and nieces.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Aime Hospice Care in Alexandria.
