US Army's Obituary
Memorial services for US Army (RET) SFC Daniel Sprague will be held Tuesday, January 5th at 2 pm in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Morris Goins and Rev Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will be at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016, 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Dan was born to Glennway and Florence Sprague on December 31, 1932 in West Allis, Wisconsin. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2016 at age 83.
He served 21 years in the United States Army. He loved his country and served two tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam war. Upon his retirement, he attended trade school, and started his own air condition and refrigeration business. Later he used this trade at Fort Polk’s Bayne–Jones Army Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glennway and Florence Sprague, sisters Lorraine Schramm and Carol Werner, brother Gilbert Sprague.
Dan was a member of the Old Anacoco Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Sprague of Leesville; sons, James and wife Lydia, David and wife Norma; daughter Debbie and husband Dave; grandchildren: Stephen, Jonathan, Savanna and Kimberly; great Grandchildren Myles, Amelia and Jacob.
The Sprague family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to his caregivers, Wanda and Paula, as well as, from Compassionate Care Hospice of Alexandria his nurse Dallas and nurse’s aide Gloria.
