The services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.Clare, the son of Frank and Marian Robinson Campbell, Jr., was born on May 11, 1961 in San Jose, CA. He passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Clare is preceded in death by his father, Frank Campbell, Jr and father-in-law C. J. Stracner.
Clare, otherwise known by his high school friends as, Bogie, was always the life of the party. He was a friend to all; his infectious smile was contagious. At some point, he decided to join the Army to become a helicopter pilot. As fun loving as he was, he was very serious about his aircrafts and their passenger’s safety. His assignment brought him to Leesville, Louisiana, where he met and married Stephanie Stracner. Army life took them and their three daughters all over the world. His career was distinguished, earning him many awards; of these he was most proud of these two, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star medal. After 30 years of service he retired as a CW5.
His family and friends benefited from his culinary skills, not only was he a pro at grilling steaks and ribs, he was a pretty decent cook. He enjoyed listening to classic vinyl albums and had an extensive collection of a wide variety of music.
As much as he loved his family and his girls he still had room in his huge heart for the animals that have shared their travels. They were family and there was always room for another if it needed a home.
When he received his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer he faced it like everything else in his life. He was determined to fight it and win. Even during his last moments on earth when asked how he was he gave his customary thumbs up to the nurses and his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Stephanie Stracner Campbell; daughters, Victoria Campbell, Alexis Campbell, and Claire Campbell all of Anacoco; his mother, Marian Campbell and brother Cliff Campbell both of Winston-Salem, NC.
