Tom M. Compton, Sr.'s Obituary
Tom M. Compton, Sr., 90, entered peacefully into rest on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Rosepine, Louisiana with his family by his side. Tom was born on Tuesday, January 6, 1931 in Nashville, Arkansas to Duffie Mack and Coye Clingan Compton.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at First Baptist Church located at 7240 LA-463 in Pitkin, LA and will continue on Friday, November 5, 2021, starting at 9:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 5, 2021, at the church with Rev. Brian Thurman, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Homer, LA, and Rev. Ryan Murphy, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Pitkin, officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin, Louisiana with military honors. Funeral services under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Tom served with honor in the United States Air Force and retired in 1968 after 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant. Tom met and married the love of his life Betty Sue and they were together for 64 years. In that marriage of love came three children which was the joy of their lives. During his time of service, he was stationed in many places such as Texas, Taiwan, Spain, Africa, and Hong Kong, China. After the military, Tom was employed by the United States Post Office for over 20 years and retired from the Post Office as Post Master in Rosepine. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Left to cherish Tom’s memory are his children, Patricia Roberts and husband Don of Pitkin, LA, Becky Landry and husband Charles of Gardner, La, and Thomas M. Compton, Jr. and wife Martha of Pitkin, LA; brother, Bobby Compton and wife Margaret of Hot Springs, AR; sister, Betty Wood of Eldorado, AR; five grandchildren, Tabatha Roberts, Tamara Lemoine, Randall Landry and wife Dana, Jonathan Roberts and wife Mollie, and Brittany Roberts; 7 great-grandchildren, Dylan Lemoine, Logan Lemoine, Hannah Lafrance, Hadley Roberts, Rhett Roberts, Ruby Landry, and Leo Landry.
Preceded in death by his parents, Duffie Mack and Coye Clingan Compton, his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Sue Compton, brothers, Charles Compton and Edwin Compton, sister, Jeanne Compton, great-granddaughter, Addie Grace Lafrance.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Randall Landry, Jonathan Roberts, Walter Rohrbeck, Ray Bennett, Trey Jordan, and John Benjamin Jordan.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Francis Jordan, Dorman Jackson, Richard “Fuzzy” Hall, Dylan Lemoine, Logan Lemoine, Rhett Roberts, and Leo Landry.
