Thomas L. Smith, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed away on August 26, 2024 in Minden, Louisiana. He was born on April 25th, 1952 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Thomas will be deeply missed by his son Kristopher Smith and wife Darlene of Magna, Utah; step-sons Garet Hall and wife Genevieve of LeBleu Settlement; Trent Hall and wife Marilene of LeBleu Settlement; sisters Judy Latimer of Baton Rouge; Sharon Temple and husband Mike of Lakeway, T.X.; Brenda Emmons and husband Stan of Kingsland, T.X.; grandchildren Samantha Hall and husband Junior; Christian Hall; Elijah Hall; Angel Hall; Jaxon Hall; Skyla Hall. He also leaves behind one great-grandchild as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis Leon and Bettye Christine Cox Smith; step-son Jeremy Hall.
Known affectionately as "Poppy" to his grandchildren Thomas cherished every moment spent with them. His love for family was evident in the way he doted on each grandchild with unwavering affection.
In addition to being a devoted family man Thomas had a passion for basketball that brought him immense joy throughout his life. Whether it was watching games or playing himself there was always an undeniable spark in his eyes when basketball was involved.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 3rd from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Memorial Baptist Church in Longville followed by a Celebration of Life service at the church at 11:00 AM. The services are under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making donations to their favorite charity in Thomas's name.
Thomas L. Smith will forever be remembered for his kind heartedness, his infectious laughter, and most importantly, his unwavering love for all those around him. He has left an indelible mark upon our lives, and though he is no longer physically present, his memory will live on eternally within our hearts.
