Tanner Bruce Honea's Obituary
Tanner “Bruce” Honea, 72, entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, July 23, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Bruce was born on September 19, 1947, in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Visitation will begin Sunday, July 26, 2020, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be Monday, July 27, 2020, Visitation will start 10:00 AM and service will begin at 12:00 Noon, Labby Memorial Funeral Home chapel in DeRidder, LA with Rev. Brent Smith officiating of LifeSong of the Nazarene, Durant, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, DeRidder, LA, with military honors.
Bruce retired after thirty years with the Civil Service; he was then employed with Aecom for six years, and finishing up with Pride for five years. A veteran of the Vietnam War he served four years in the United States Army. He loved gardening, mowing grass, watching his hummingbirds for hours. He enjoyed playing games with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his special fur baby Sadie.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Evie Juanita Honea of DeRidder, LA; daughters, Tammy Stephens and husband Ike of Simpson, LA, Tiffany Lestage and husband Jimmy of DeRidder, LA; son Timothy Honea of DeRidder, LA; brother Glen Honea and wife Linda of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Elaine Ballard of Nashville, TN, Judy Harris of DeRidder, LA, Joyce Lewis and husband Jerry of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Josie Walker and husband Cameron, Torie Roberts and husband Landon, Julie Ann Clendening, Klaire Clendening, Reese Stephens, Madison Stephens, Tanner Lestage, Tyler Stephens, and Hunter Stephens.
Preceded in death by his parents, Tanner Woodrow and Goldie Mae (Loftin) Honea, sister, Goldie Marie Ready; brother-in-law Gene Ready; and two nephews Mike and John Ready.
Serving as pallbearers are Jackson Wade Lewis, Steven Lewis, Jeffrey Lewis, Craig Ballard, Wesley Bennett, and Derek Ballard.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Scott Lewis, Cornie James, Wade Cooley, Mike Brown, Ronald Brown, Travis Vincent, Joel Harris, and Donald Hagan.
