Talmadge "Madge" O. Gordon's Obituary
Talmadge “Madge” O. Gordon passed away peacefully in her sleep at Deer Creek Hospital on June 9, 2013, at 6:20 am.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Melvin E. Gordon, mother and father, Henry G. Trawick and Dora B. Trawick; brothers and sisters, Charles Kendrick, Cleo West, James “Buck” & Jo Gordon, Lester, Ulmer, Luther, & Cecil Gordon; daughter- in- law, Yvonne Gordon, great granddaughter, Hayden M. Sumney-Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth A. Gordon and Joyce & G.W. Sumney Jr., all of Leesville; brothers & sisters, James “Bobby” & Jane Trawick, William “Bill” & Brenda Trawick, Wesley “Buddy” & Betsy Trawick all of Mobile, AL, Marilyn & Bruce Adkins of Dauphin Island, AL and Luverne Kendrick of Mobile, AL, Bobbie West of Petal, MS, Ann Gordon of Jackson, MS, Vivian Gordon of Waynesboro, MS, & Wayne & Ann Johnson of Leesville, LA; grandchildren, Jessica & Justin Thompson, Derland Sumney, Melissa & Chad Koonce, and Christopher Bainer; great grandchildren Melanie Sumney Thompson, Matthew & Hunter Thompson, Brianna & Christian Cable, and Alexis & Chandler Koonce and countless nieces and nephews.
Madge was born April 22, 1938, in Eiler, AL but was a long time Vernon Parish resident. Madge worked at Sheila’s Beauty Shop in Leesville. But after leaving the beautician field she was a wonderful stay at home mother and wife. She was a devoted military wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She touched every life she encountered. She will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday June 11, 2013; from 5-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at 10 am. Burial services will follow at Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Mrs. Gordon will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Melvin and great granddaughter, Hayden.
