T. C. Terrell's Obituary
Funeral services for T.C. Terrell, 88, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville with Rev. Terry Ward, Rev. Dale Poe, Rev. Louis Magee and Dr. Gregory Lord officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in LaCamp, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the funeral home.
T.C., the son of Elijah Willis and Ada Jane Smith Terrell was born on October 23, 1923, in LaCamp, Louisiana. He passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at his residence in Leesville, LA.
A lifelong resident of Vernon Parish Mr. Terrell served during World War II as a 1st Sergeant in the 86th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient and a disabled veteran. After serving in World War II, he came home to Vernon Parish and worked as a carpenter, electrician and welder. He also worked for Shawson Gas & Star Butane. He drove bus #20 to the Leesville schools till his retirement. He was a song leader and Sunday school teacher at Slagle Baptist Church for many years. He was a master hay baler and loved to work in his garden and raise cattle. But his greatest thrill was watching and spending time with his grandsons and great grandson. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Margie Lena Brown Terrell; son, Sidney Edward Terrell; sisters, Theoda & Velma Terrell and 2nd wife & grandmother to his grandchildren, Clytie Bernice Robinson Terrell.
He is survived by his daughters, Arlene Terrell of Leesville & Candace Dowden & husband Steve of Leesville; sister, Versie Hillman of Leesville; grandsons, Eric Dowden & wife Kristy of Slagle, Wayne “Bud” Dowden of Leesville, Sean Dowden of Leesville, & Scott Terrell of Winter Springs, FL; precious great grandson, Preston Luke Dowden; very special sister & brother-in-law, Juanita & R V Bolton; brother & sister-in-law, Larry & Kathy Brown and sister & brother-in-law, Syble and Everett Wiley.
