Sybil J. Martin's Obituary
Sybil Martin entered peacefully into rest on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 21 days, in Fort Worth, Texas. Sybil was born on Sunday, June 10, 1934 in Fullerton, Louisiana to Monroe Perkins and Maedella Bass Perkins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in the Chapel from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, Louisiana, with Rev. Ron Butler and Rev. Bill Nash officiating. Interment will follow at the Hopewell Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Sybil’s love language for her family was to cook…she was an avid gardener and loved to can and preserve the fruits of her gardening efforts. She loved her family and friends deeply. Her 6 grandchildren and 13 great children were her pride, her love, and her joy. As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; she loved her sisters in the Order and enjoy the many social and activities of the Order. As a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church in the Dry Creek community, she thrived in the enjoyment of Christian fellowship and spiritual growth. Along with her husband, as a team, they provided HVAC and refrigeration services to the DeRidder community with their business Nash Refrigeration for many years. She enjoyed many years in her retirement along with her second husband Elray Martin. She dearly loved the community of friends and family in the DeRidder and East Beauregard community where she lived.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Linda Feldman and husband Kevin of Aledo, TX; sisters, Donice Gentry of Weatherford, TX, and Sue Cadle and husband Ed of Weatherford, TX; six grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Monroe Perkins and Maedella Perkins; first husband, AJ Nash; second husband, Elray Martin; son, Michael Nash; granddaughter, Ashley Marshall; and seven siblings.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Rik Marshall, Shawn Harkness, Jack Bass, George Reese, Larry Reese, and Steve Bass.
