Susie H. Wertz's Obituary
Funeral services for Susie H. Wertz, 92, of DeRidder, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Mittie, LA with the Rev. John Nichols and Rev. Frank Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery in Grant, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home and will continue Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 8 am until time of service at the church.
Susie, the daughter of John Edward and Nancy Lovina Young Hamilton was born on January 18, 1919, in Grant, Louisiana. She passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Rosepine Retirement & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Wertz was a resident of DeRidder for 32 years. She was a retired Liberian with the Allen Parish Library. She was an active member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church until 1982; she then joined Temple Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in all the women’s activities at the church. She enjoyed quilting and entertaining friends at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob P. Wertz and grandson, Jonathan Casey Wertz.
She is survived by her son, Norman Wertz & wife Sandra of DeRidder, LA; grandson, Patrick Wertz and sisters, Naomi Lanier of Forest Hill, LA & Gussie McInnis of Sulphur, LA.
