Funeral services for Susan Denise Blankenbaker, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 18, 2016, in the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana, with Rev. Charlie Bailey and Rev. John Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, LA
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., in the funeral home and on Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 9:00 A.M. until service time in the church.
Susan was born on April 20' 1968, in DeRidder, LA, to Merl Allen and Katherine Elizabeth Haskins Blankenbaker. She passed away on February 15, 2016, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
A native and lifelong resident of DeRidder, she was a graduate of DeRidder High School and Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. She received her Masters Degree plus 30 at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. She was a teacher at East Beauregard High School in Dry Creek, LA, where she taught junior high and high school math. She began her teaching career at Pickering Elementary in Pickering, LA, and had been teaching for 24 years. She was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Katherine Blankenbaker of DeRidder; three brothers, Randal Allen Blankenbaker and wife Laura of Crandall, TX, Jerel Lynn Blankenbaker and wife Barbara, and Michael David Blankenbaker, both of DeRidder; sister, Patricia Ann Blankenbaker of Baton Rouge, LA; nieces, Randi Lynn Blankenbaker, Brooke Ashley Williamson, Regan Lane Blankenbaker, and Cadie Mane Blankenbaker; nephew, Josiah Asa Blankenbaker; great nieces, Cortlynn Blankenbaker, Layklen Sunderlin, Jayalyn Williamson, Anneliese Blankenbaker, and Madeliene Blankenbaker; great nephews, Colt Stark and Wade Williamson; and dearest friend, Tanya DeMaskey. Susan is also survived by her 4-legged children, Daisy, Connor, Cadie Bug, Lucky and Mister. She was preceded in death by her father and niece, Sonni Blankenbaker.
