Sue Carol Calhoon Smith's Obituary
Funeral service for Sue Carol Calhoon Smith, 73, of DeRidder, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with Rev. Cody Smith and Rev. George Lee Glass officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in DeRidder, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 9 AM until service time at the funeral home in DeRidder.
Sue was born on April 24, 1940, to Taylor C. and Geneva Nadine Cross Calhoon in El Dorado, AR. She lived most of her life in DeRidder and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder. She was a teacher in early childhood care and preschool. She loved her Lord and her family, especially her grandchildren. She passed from this life on Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Westwood Manor Nursing Home in DeRidder.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Smith and wife Mary and Donnie Smith and wife Sandra, both of DeRidder; two sisters, JoAnne Clements and husband Jimmy Ray of Mansfield, La, and Cherry Martin and husband Victor B. of DeRidder; three grandchildren, Rev. Cody Smith, Alyssa Warren and Miranda Smith, and five great grandchildren.
