Sang Sun Hines' Obituary
Sang Sun Hines, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Born on April 8, 1948, in Korea to Jeong-Seok Kim and Sang-Eul Kim, she lived a life filled with love and devotion that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband: Franklin Hines of Leesville; sons: Brian Hines; Joseph Hines (Misty); and Daniel Hines—all residing in Leesville. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Triston Richardson (August) of Jesup Georgia; Chandler Richardson (Dina) of LaPorte Texas; Daelen DeLoach of Screven, Georgia; Loxlee Hines; and Dexton Hines from Leesville. Additionally, she delighted in being a great-grandmother to Cohen Richardson of Jesup Georgia and Moses Richardson of LaPorte Texas. She is also survived by her brother: Sang-Mok Kim along with sisters: Jeong-Sun Kim and Younghee Kim—all residing in Korea.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jeong-Seok Kim and Sang-Eul Kim and brother Sang-Hwan Kim.
Sang's heart was as vast as the ocean—filled with an unwavering love for her family and friends. She found immense joy within her church community where she nurtured deep connections grounded in faith and love for Jesus. Known for her caring nature and hardworking spirit, Sang dedicated herself not only to those closest to her but also extended kindness beyond measure.
Her culinary talents were legendary among family gatherings—she was famous for her eggrolls. A passionate traveler at heart, Sang embraced new experiences while cherishing the memories made along the way.
Funeral services honoring this remarkable woman will be held at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville on Tuesday July 21, 2026 at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Pastor Kyutae Jeong. Burial will follow at Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery—a fitting tribute for someone whose life exemplified dedication both to family values as well as service above self.
Visitation hours are scheduled for Monday, July 20th from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M., allowing friends near or far an opportunity to pay their respects while sharing stories that celebrate the beautiful soul that was Sang Sun Hines—a true matriarch whose light will continue shining brightly through generations yet unborn.
