Sandra Broom's Obituary
Funeral services for Sandra Marie Rogers Broom, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Main Post Chapel at Fort Polk with Pastor Wayne Godfrey officiating. Burial will be Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. in the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church Cemetery in Church Point, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 8 am - 4 pm, Friday, November 25, 2011, at the funeral home.
Sandra Marie Rogers Broom was the third child born to the late Bertha Gibson Rogers and Benjamin Rogers on January 6, 1960, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She went home to her father’s house on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
‘SisAnn’ as she was affectionely known by many was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. She never met a person that didn’t love to be in her presence. ‘SisAnn’ was baptized at an early age at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, Louisiana where she also attended school and lived across the street. ‘SisAnn’ grew up in Church Point, La., moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where she graduated from Marion High School in 1978 where she lived with her family Patsy and Austin Citizen and their sons, Lenzy, Derwin, Shannon and Chris. Lake Charles was where she met her husband, David Broom, Sr. David was in the U.S. Army and they traveled and lived in Germany and throughout the United States. From their union, they have two beautiful children, David, Jr. “Lil David’ and Destiny both whom she loved more than life itself. Her children were her pride and joy. ‘SisAnn’ was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bayne Jones Hospital at Fort Polk, Louisiana. ‘SisAnn’ was a wonderful cook and she was infamous for her “Gumbo” in the Leesville/Fort Polk area.
Her memories will be cherished by her husband of many years, David Broom, Sr., one son David (Margie) Broom, Jr. and one daughter, Destiny Broom; five grandchildren, Ariel Thomas, Amaya Thomas, Antrel Hopkins, Davion Brtek, and De’Andre Brtek. Also left to cherish her memories are her stepmother: Betty Rogers (Harold) Boudreaux, Opelousas, LA; siblings Veronica Faye (George) Joseph, Lake Charles, LA; Malcolm Rogers, San Antonio, TX; Mary JoHanna Rogers (John) Brooks from Clophus, New Mexico; John Jarrod (Jennifer) Rogers, Yorktown, Virginia; John Gabriel Rogers from Houston, TX and Benjamin (Dana) Rogers from Cankton, LA, and other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
