Sammie Jack "Bubba" Swearengin's Obituary
Funeral services for Sammie Jack “Bubba” Swearengin, 67, of DeRidder will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, at 2 pm at First Baptist Church in DeRidder. Burial will follow in the Beauregard Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, 2017, from 2 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home, Monday July 24th from 9 am until 12 noon in the funeral home then 1 pm until service time at the church.
“Bubba” was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder, Louisiana. He loved his family, Jesus, Elvis (the last two almost equally) fried chicken, music and sports. He was undeniably the DeRidder Dragons number one all time fan and served as the equipment manager for the football team. He was the coach of “Bubba’s Bunch” and a star athlete on the Special Olympics Team. He lived, ate, and breathed LSU Tiger and New Orleans Saints sports. He attended BARC for about 40 years and was well known in the DeRidder High School sports circles.
He was raised to be kind, capable, and loving. His influence was far reaching and taught all who knew him the meaning of unconditional love.
Bubba, the son of Marvin and Edith Allen Swearengin, born on November 10, 1949 in DeRidder. He passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at his residence in DeRidder, LA.
He is survived by his brother, Johnny (wife, Dana) Swearengin of Richmond, TX; sisters, Carolyn (husband, Sammy) Goodeaux, Linda (husband, Don) Pardon and Gay (husband, Kirk) Pellerin all of DeRidder; ten nephews and five nieces and an entire community if friends who loved him.
