Funeral services for Ruth Weldon, 80, of Cole Central Community, Louisiana, will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Smyrna Baptist Church in Sugartown, LA, with Rev. Frank Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery in Sugartown, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Weldon passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009, in a her residence. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, from 5 P.M. until 10 P.M. and Wednesday, April 15, 2009, from 10 A.M. until time of the service in Smyrna Baptist Church in Sugartown.
Mrs. Weldon was born in Houston, Texas, but lived most of her life in the Cole Central Community, Louisiana, area. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church where she was the church secretary for many years and a member of the UMW. She was retired from the Beauregard Parish School Board where she was a cafeteria worker at East Beauregard School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all-never met a stranger and loved all creatures great and small.
She is survived by sons Ralph Weldon and wife Linda, Roger Dale Weldon and wife Wanda, and Steven Weldon and wife Julie, all of Cole Central Community, Louisiana; daughter Sharon Denby and husband George of Cole Central Community; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
