Ruby LaVerne Marze "Mawmaw" Crager's Obituary
Funeral services for Ruby LaVerne Marze Crager “Mawmaw”, 86, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Castor Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Walter Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Self Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 27th from 6 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 28th from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
LaVerne, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Lola Mires Marze was born July 13, 1927, in Merryville, LA. She passed away Wednesday, June 25th, in Leesville.
Mrs. Crager was a lifetime member of Sunny Hill Baptist Church in Kurthwood, LA. She loved reading her Bible every day, fishing, quilting and gardening. At harvest time she loved to cook very large meals for her family and friends, especially when the vegetables were from her on garden. She was loved by everyone that knew her and her smile will be remembered.
She had five sisters and four brothers. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Tommie W. Prewitt, LeRoy “Pete” Whitman and Alton Ray Crager.
She is survived by her son, Tommie Willis Prewitt & wife, Sharon of Leesville, LA; daughter, Margie A. Stanley & husband, Roy S. of Leesville, LA; step-children, Janet Fuselier, Cindy Lamb, & Jeremey Crager all of Leesville, LA; sister, Leola Marze Prewitt of Port Arthur, TX; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
