SIMPSON - Funeral services for Royce Kimby Johnson will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Simpson Baptist Church, Simpson, LA with Reverend Paul Watts and Reverend Jeremy Blocker officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson of Simpson, LA went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2009. He was 70 years old. He was a native of Simpson, LA and a former resident of Houston, TX. He retired in 1998 after 36 years with Baker Hughes and returned to Simpson. He was a deacon at Simpson Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson; brothers Norwyn Johnson, Densel Johnson, Laurence Johnson, and Horace Johnson; sisters Christine Anders, Ernie Johnson, Edwina Johnson and Yvonne Day.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Joyce J. Johnson of Simpson, LA; son Kevin R. Johnson of Richmond, TX; sister Glymouth Ruddock and husband, Jack, of Katy, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Norwyn Johnson, Larry Johnson, Don Johnson, Trey Smith, Butch Smith and Michael Ruddock. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Davis, Jack Ruddock, Jackson Bollinger, Travis Bolton and Melvin Bullock.
