Roy Dewain Smith's Obituary
Funeral services for Roy Dewain Smith, 69, of Evans will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2020 in the Sycamore Community Church in Burkeville, Texas with Rev. Bill Smithson officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday September 24, 2020 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
Roy was born on January 4, 1951 in Leesville and passed away on September 21, 2020 in Alexandria, LA.
Roy graduated from Evans High School in 1968. He went on to serve in the United States Navy. For many years he worked for Magnolia Life and Liberty Life insurance companies in Vernon and Beauregard Parish. He also served as a deputy for the Vernon Parish Sheriff office for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his father: Roy Smith
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 28 years: Jeanette Smith of Evans; his mother: Norma Smith of Anacoco; his children: Melinda Vander (Roger) of Rosepine, Michele Smith of Rosepine, Melissa Manino of Leesville, Lenard Jeane of Sulphur, and Christopher Jeane of Erath; one brother: Richard Smith (Jeanie) of Jasper, TX; four sisters: Delane Worthy (Les) of Rockwell, NC, Danette Barela (Gil) of Houston, TX, Debbie Smith of Anacoco, LA, and Nancy Manuel (Sam) of DeRidder, LA; 17 Grandchildren, and 24 Great Grandchildren.
