Roy A. "Buck" Dear's Obituary
Funeral service for Roy A. “Buck” Dear, 93, will be Tuesday, September 2nd, at 10 am at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with Rev. Roger Gill officiating. The burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday, Sept 1st, from 1pm until 9pm in the funeral home.
Roy A. “Buck” Dear was born on October 5, 1920. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2014. He attended Sugartown School. He served in the U S Air Force for a number of years and fought in World War II and the Korean Conflict. After serving his country he held numerous jobs, Lineman for Beauregard Electric, helped build Interstate 10, and was a reserve Deputy for the Beauregard Parish Sheriff Office, the forestry service and as a security guard for Boise. Buck enjoyed farming, reminiscing about his military days and being an American.
He was preceded in death by his parents Berry and Beulah Dear, his loving wife, Pearl Dear, brothers, Wayne, Murray and B. L. Dear
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Johnson and husband Don; 3 grandkids, Kandi Singleton and husband Damon, Donald Johnson and wife Jody and Jason Johnson and wife Kristy; 5 great grandchildren, Dyllon Singleton, Chase Singleton, Donald Johnson, Jr., Caleb Johnson and Brady Johnson all of DeRidder; 3 sisters Irene Cole, Earlene Hutchinson and Nannie Sue McDonald and one broth
