Ronnie Jerome Hickman's Obituary
Ronnie Hickman, age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026. He was surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, humility, and a deep devotion to his family.
Ronnie retired from the oilfield as a tool pusher after many years of dedication including extensive overseas work. He was known as an exceptionally hard worker who believed in long days, honest labor, and doing things the right way. His unmatched work ethic was deliberately instilled in his three children, shaping their lives and values. Through his example, Ronnie taught his family the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and pride in one’s work, all while having a gentle hand—lessons that will continue to guide generations to come.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Ronnie found peace and joy in nature. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, drawing and birdwatching, and he treasured time spent outdoors whenever he could. While he enjoyed these passions during time off throughout his working years, he was especially grateful to embrace them more fully in retirement, savoring the slower pace and simple pleasures of life. One thing is for sure: he would never shy away from a dance floor. He loved to dance and cook, therefore filling family gatherings with good food, laughter, warmth, and lasting memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William James Hickman and Addis Mae Calcote Hickman, and his sister, Sondra Hickman Johnson.
Ronnie is survived by his three children: 2 sons and a daughter. His son, Clifton Hickman and wife Vivian of DeRidder, son, Jeffrey Hickman and wife Jenny of Leesville, and his daughter Dena Rushford and husband Robert of DeRidder. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Holli Jones and husband Jeremy, Halli Hickman, Russell “Russ” Hickman, Trent Hickman and wife Felicia, Heather Hickman, Jacqueline Shaw and husband Mason, Tyler Hickman, Kimmie Fontenot and husband Camron, Emili Hickman, and Connor Rushford.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Bayli Jones, Jantz Jones, Maybrie Siewert, Marli Hickman, Mackenzie Shaw, and Joshua Fontenot.
Ronnie is further survived by his siblings: Sharon Devore, James “Bo” Hickman, and Randall “Scotty” Hickman. He leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Ronnie Hickman will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend—a man with a huge loving heart whose strength, integrity, love for the outdoors, and work ethic live on through the family he loved and the values he passed down.
