Ronald Wayne Thigpen's Obituary
Ronald Wayne Thigpen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Duson, Louisiana. Born on April 2, 1958, in Berlin, Germany to Clyde and Ingeborg Thigpen (both of whom preceded him in death), Ronald's journey through life was marked by love for his family and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted wife Marla Thigpen of Duson; his cherished daughter Kristina Rushing of Alexandria; step-son Cory Trahan (Misti) of Youngsville, LA; step-daughter Danye Trahan (Joey Monahan) of Independence, MO; sister Anita Cornelius (Peter) from Berlin; along with eight adoring grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Poppa Roni" or Paw Paw. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into his life.
Ronald had a profound appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. He found solace outdoors—whether it was hunting or fishing. His passion extended to gardening. His dogs Shadow and Bailey were more than pets—they were loyal companions who filled his heart with warmth and happiness.
Those fortunate enough to know Ronald experienced firsthand his kind-hearted nature. He had an innate ability to make others feel valued and loved—a gift that will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.
Funeral services honoring Ronald’s remarkable life will take place on Saturday March 1st at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville at 1:00 P.M., with a visitation starting from 10:00 A.M until service time. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Glen Badeaux, Richard Richard, Paul Miller, Dana Eldridge, Mitch Wilson and Bill Otool while Dennis Wilson and Hunter Rushing will serve as honorary pallbearers.
As we gather together to celebrate Ronald's legacy—a legacy defined by love for family and friends—we remember a man whose gentle spirit enriched our lives immeasurably. Though he may no longer walk among us physically—the kindness he spread throughout his lifetime remains etched forever in our hearts.
