He often devoted his time to ensuring we understood the mission and purpose, and was consistently both tough and kind.
In a way, he behaved like a type of Jesus figure. Just as Jesus gave His life on the cross and rose from the grave so that we could have eternal life through believing in Him, and being baptized, this brother likewise devoted himself to elevating others.
